A piece of Sicily, lovingly restored
Terrazzo floors, hand-painted cement tiles, a wardrobe with majolica doors and an old brass bed: nothing at Stella Marina has been smoothed over, everything has been restored with a great deal of care.
The apartment is in the small coastal town of Santa Flavia, east of Palermo. The station is just around the corner, and the harbour of Porticello with its fish restaurants is within walking distance. There is room for up to five guests, and with two bathrooms there is no queue in the morning.
The roof terrace
The heart of the apartment is above the rooftops. Coffee in the canopy bed in the morning, a siesta under the pergola at midday, and in the evening a long table, the barbecue and string lights. The sea sparkles to the north, the mountains rise behind you.
The apartment
92 m², bright, with high ceilings. Every room has its own pieces with a story.
Kitchen
Gas hob, oven, dishwasher and espresso machine. An old carpenter’s workbench serves as a kitchen island, and breakfast is at the wooden table next to it.
Bedrooms
Double beds with fresh linen, high ceilings and chandeliers. One room has a restored brass bed, another a wardrobe with majolica doors.
Two bathrooms
Both with shower and bidet, tiled with Sicilian cement tiles and light limestone. The washing machine is in the second bathroom.

Location and surroundings
A cornetto at the bar around the corner in the morning, fresh fish at the harbour of Porticello at lunchtime, a swim in one of the little coves in the afternoon. If you want more, hop on the train and you are in the middle of Palermo in twenty minutes, or hike up to the ruins of Solunto.
